Issue

This article outlines the classically supported ONVIF-compliant camera used for Sentryx Imaging. The Panasonic WVSC385 has is no longer the recommended camera, but should still work using old settings. The useClassicCapture setting must be set to true in Module.Imaging

To use the Imaging Module with optimal settings will require either the Axis P5414-E PTZ or Axis Q6055 PTZ Network Camera. The Axis M5065 PTZ Network Camera is also now compatible with the software

Panasonic WV-SC385

In order for the Panasonic WV-SC385 to work correctly with the Spillman software, you must ensure that the camera has the correct firmware.

The latest firmware that has been tested and verified as working by Spillman is 1.81.  That being said, it has been reported that version 2.02e has worked with Spillman.  Any issues POST 1.81 would likely need to be handled as a bug.

PTZ Tool

If you upgraded to 1.8+ you may notice a new warning dialog box when you try to pull up the camera.  The error states "Found media profile does not have Pan/Tilt/Zoom configured.  Pan/Tilt/Zoom functionality will be disabled":

This requires that you configure a new tool that Panasonic has called Panasonic ONVIF Configuration Tool.

Here is how to configure it:

  1. On the left side of the ONVIF Config Tool, you will see a Device List. Likely the camera will not already be on the list in the dropdown at the top of the screen. You will need to add the camera to this list of NIC’s. Do this by clicking ‘Add…’
  2. A window will pop-up and you will need to fill in the appropriate fields with the following information:
    • ONVIF Access Url: http://<CameraIPAddress>/onvif
    • Name: Choose what you want to put here. A good one to use would simply be Panasonic
    • Model: Again choose what you want to put here. The model number of this camera is WV-SC385

      3. After filling in the information click ‘Add’

4. The tool now attempts to connect to the camera. If it is successful, you should see the view from the camera in the upper right corner of the tool screen
5. On the right panel, you should see the Model and Firmware information. Under those, there are three tabs: Profiles, Device information, and Report. Be sure you are on the Profiles tab
6. In the drop down for Select media profile, there should be 5 different media profiles. You will need to select each one separately, and complete the following steps before selecting the next media profile:

  • At the bottom of the screen, there is a field for PTZ with a drop-down field to the right of it. Go into the drop-down, and choose ‘PTZConfSpherical’.
  • Click Update

 7. After doing this with all 5 of the media profiles, the camera should now be ready to be used with the Spillman products.
