Question
Mobile Video - ICV - 4RE/M500 - What Should the MTUs of a Mikrotik Groove Configuration Be?
Answer
The MTU is to be set to 1500, while L2MTU should be 1600. When a configuration is exported from within the terminal of a Groove/AP, these values will not be listed as they are default for Mikrotik.
MTUs should simply be removed from all Mikrotik configurations.
Should a customer already have devices set with L2MTU=2290 or similar, it is fine to leave them be. You do not need to reconfigure every device.
In the event a new Mikrotik AP is being sent out to the customer, confirm the MTUs of the existing Grooves and adjust the AP configuration to match.
Informational Note: MTU stands for "Maximum Transmission Unit" and is the size of the largest protocol data unit (PDU) that can be communicated in a single network layer transaction.
