Device Management

Important!  You must have system administrator or device management permissions to access Device Management.
Device Management is the VideoManager EL (EL) component that helps you manage your agency devices (Motorola Solutions M500 and 4RE in-car video systems and V300 and VISTA body-worn cameras).

You use Device Management to:

• Set up devices and their configurations:
  • M500
  • 4RE
  • V300
  • VISTA
  • A configuration assigns settings to each device specific to the agency needs.
• Set up event tags
  • Event tags are questions or statements used to classify a recorded event. Typically, the system asks an officer to tag an event when the event is stopped.
• Set up trusted Wi-Fi access points and assign them to your device configurations
• Deploy configurations to:
  • M500
  • 4RE
  • You can deploy a configuration manually using a USB thumb drive or automatically using a wired or wireless connection between the device and EL.
  • Note:  You assign a configuration to a V300 or VISTA camera when you check it out.
• Deploy new firmware versions to:
  • 4RE
  • VISTA
  • Motorola Solutions can manage your firmware deployments, or your agency can manage its own firmware deployments.
  • Note:  New V300 and M500 firmware is deployed automatically. Devices are typically updated within a week after the new firmware is available.

Accessing Device Management

To access Device Management in EL:

• Move your mouse over the Admin tab, and then click Device Management.
