APX subscribers programmed with Radio Management (RM) templates using software ADP report that the key data gets corrupted or lost

Issue

ADP software encryption works differently than hardware encryption in that the Master Template acts as the KVL Key loader and the Master Template is the only one that can be used to clone other radios to get the ADP encryption keys into those radios.

This was designed to work this way to prevent someone from just reading a radio with ADP software encryption in it and then cloning to other radios which would compromise the users encryption scheme

How do you know if you are using the Master Template (codeplug) :

-To know this you have to open the template and go into Secure > Secure Wide and take a look at the Encryption Key List

What a user needs to see is the 10 hex values for the Selectable ADP Key Data and the 4 hex values for the Selectable ADP Key ID

If these values are not seen then the Template (codeplug) is not the Master Template (codeplug).

If a radio is read or a Template (codeplug) opened on the computer and in the Selectable ADP Key Data only ********** is seen then this is not the Master Template and cannot be used in programming the radio.  There is an exception and that is if the radio is read and then written direct back to that radio then there is no issues

Environment

APX RM (Radio Managment)

Resolution

Make sure to use the Master Templates in RM to clone/program the radios.

The Key Data and Key ID can also be manually entered and written to the radio.
