RM Series RSM Clip Part PMLN8121A Breaking


Symptom(s)

The clips on the RM730 RM760 RM780 RSM (Remote Speaker Mic) experienced breakage specifically the clip part number PMLN8121A. 

Issue

- The RSM clips, part number PMLN8121A, are breaking.

Resolution

The Radio Speaker Microphone (RSM) clip has been updated with a new plastic material to better resist chemical exposure and contamination.

This modification has been implemented in all affected RSM units starting with Date Code 01/25 (Week 01, Year 2025) and in all models produced thereafter.

MSI will replace RSM Clips (PMLN8121A) free of charge that break within the 12-month warranty period. For international customers please contact your regional Customer Care team and reference ​KB0035560 to initiate replacements. If you are in the NALA Region contact Order Management by calling 800 MSI HELP (1-800-674-4357) and reference​ KB0035560 to initiate replacements.

Once the replacement RSM Clips are received , utilize the following steps to detach the broken clip from the RSM and attach the new clip to the RSM.

 

Procedure for replacing the clip:

Detached the clip from the RSM 

Tool needed – a small flat head screw driver 



Step 1: Turn the swivel clip to a horizontal position. You will see the metal latch.




Step 2: Gently insert the screw driver under the metal latch.

 

Step 3: Lift the metal latch and push the clip down.



Attached the clip to the RSM 

 

Step 1: Align the clip and the RSM following the arrow on the RSM, and the clip is pointed in the same direction

Step 2: Put the clip into the slots. 

Take note that the clip is blocking part of the back label.



Step 3: Push the clip up and there should be a loud click sound when the clip is properly inserted to the RSM. 

Take note that the clip is no longer blocking the label.
