What is PRdata?

PRdata stands for "Provisioning Data" for a PremierOne CAD system. It is exported from the PremierOne Provisioning portal as a ".dat" file (for CAD Clients and Windows Mobile Clients) and ".db" (for P1 Android and iOS) 

The provisioning data file includes all the information and configuration settings that a CAD client, Mobile client and Handheld client (iOS or Android) need in order to function properly. It builds and populates the local databases on the clients in line with the specific version and needs of the customer configuration.

 

When do I need to use it?

NEW or Recent PRdata is needed during the initial install of any CAD, Mobile or Handheld device. The clients will not function properly without it. After the initial install of a client with PRdata, the client will sync any new provisioning changes upon logging into CAD/Mobile, and will continue to sync every 60 minutes after you are logged in.

There are certain changes that require NEW PRdata, even after a CAD or Mobile client have been deployed.

New = Taken the same day

Recent = Within 6 weeks, *assuming there have been no MAJOR provisioning changes (see below for details regarding major changes)

 

When does it need to re-installed on clients?

PRData needs to be re-initialized for a couple of reasons:

1: Major provisioning changes are made

2: Software upgrades have happened 

 

Major Provisioning Changes include but are not limited to the following

-A new agency has been provisioned

-Changes to the Preassigned Coverage Areas in the Simple/Detailed Login Form Options for a Mobile Client (MobileUI customization)

 

Software Upgrades

When the PremierOne Application is upgraded, new PRdata needs to be initialized on a new client version

Example: If the PremierOne Servers are upgraded from version 4.6.15 to 4.6.18, and new 4.6.18 CAD clients and Mobile clients have been installed on computers, they will need new PRdata from the 4.6.18 Provisioning portal in order to work properly. They cannot be installed with 4.6.15 PRdata.

Alternatively, CAD and Mobile clients that are on version 4.6.15, with application servers on 4.6.18, are designed to still work, with the purpose to give time for customer IT departments to deploy the new version to the clients without any downtime to the CAD/Mobile clients. You cannot run new 4.6.18 PRdata on a 4.6.15 client, so as a best practice it is recommended to upgrade the CAD and Mobile clients as soon as its reasonable.

 

How do I download new PRdata from Provisioning?

In the PremierOne Provisioning Portal, once logged in, click on "Tools" and export the PRdata.

Loading new PRdata for a Mobile or CAD client

To load new PRdata into a client, in the configuration tool, point the PRDataLocation_Pro (or TRN/STG) to the newly saved PRdata.dat file, and then be sure to check the "Initialize database and import PR data" box off in the Mobile/Cad client configuration tool options section
