VEHICLEMANAGER QUICK GUIDES - LOCATE ANALYSIS

This guide describes how Users can use the Locate Analysis feature of VehicleManager to view and manage vehicle sightings and the locations where they are detected. Users can then select vehicle detections from the filmstrip and import them into Associate Analysis.

Reference

    • Locate Analysis enables Users to search for a vehicle and view all of the locations in a selected state that it has been detected over a specified time period. The User can save searches and output reports of the search results. With Locate Analysis, Users can view relevant information about the vehicle in a single place:
      • Vehicle Year, Make, Model, Color, and VIN when available
      • The list of location addresses that the vehicle was detected near
      • A Locator Score indicating the likelihood of finding the vehicle at the selected location, the vehicle’s “popularity” at the location, and dates that the vehicle was detected at the location.
    • Associate Analysis is a feature of VehicleManager that enables Users to identify other vehicles that have been seen in close proximity to the searched vehicle.

SEARCHING WITH LOCATE ANALYSIS

    1. Login to Vigilant VehicleManager and navigate to Locate Analysis.
    2. Under Search Plate, enter a Plate number. A plate number is required to perform the search.
    3. Optionally, to narrow the search, enter the Reg. State of the plate, and a State in which the search will be performed. Enable Date Range to only display detections made in the selected range.
    4. Click on the Magnifying Glass icon to perform the search. Further searches can be performed from within Locate Analysis.

MANAGING LOCATE ANALYSIS RESULTS

Feature

Description

Vehicle Information

The searched vehicle’s attributes will be displayed here, if available.

Locations List

A list of the locations into which individual vehicle detections have been grouped. The total number of locations and detections is displayed above.

Locator Score

Locator Score is a measure of how likely the searched vehicle is to be found at the selected location.

    • A score of 4 or more is highlighted green on the map and indicates that the vehicle is likely to be found here.
    • A score of 2 - 3 is highlighted yellow on the map and indicates that the vehicle may possibly be found here.
    • A score of 0 - 1 is highlighted red on the map and indicates that even though the vehicle has been detected, it will probably not be found here.

Vehicle Sightings (Popularity)

The number of vehicle sightings at the selected location influences the Locator Score. Of the total vehicle detections, a higher percentage of sightings at this location indicates a higher popularity.

Sighting Dates (First/Last Seen)

The first and last dates a vehicle was sighted can indicate how long a vehicle has been visiting the location. If the last date an LPR system visited a location was too long ago, the location may not have up to date information.

Detection Filmstrip

The detection filmstrip displays each detection made at the selected location. Select more than one detection to import them into Associate Analysis.

Heat Map / Location Map

The Heat Map is a graph of the number of detections made during each hour of each day of the week. Each square indicates the number of detections made in that hour of the day. Darker squares indicate increasingly frequent detections and a higher chance of locating the searched vehicle during that hour. Click Location Map to switch back to the regular map.

Map

The map displays all of the locations that the vehicle detections have been grouped into. Swap between

    1. Click on a location from the Locations List or a map pin from the Map to select it and display information about that location.
    2. View the detections made at the selected location in the Detections Filmstrip.
    3. View the Locator Score, Vehicle Sightings, Sighting Dates to the left of the Detections Filmstrip.
    4. Manage the locations in the Locations List by clicking Edit Location and selecting locations from the list by clicking the checkboxes. Then, select from the following options:
      1. Plus Sign [ + ]: Manually add a location to the list by address.
      2. Keep: Keeps only the selected locations. All other locations will be removed from search results.
      3. Merge: Combine two or more locations that are in close proximity to each other for a combined statistical analysis.
      4. Remove: Remove the selected locations from the search results. Remove locations that are no longer needed or no longer contain vehicles of interest.

CREATING LOCATE ANALYSIS REPORTS

    1. To create a report from the search results, click Output Report.
    2. Select from the following options:
      1. Locate Analysis Report: Contains a summary for each location, a listing of the locations in the report, and the heat map for each location.
      2. Multi Report: Contains every detection available in the search results.
      3. Map Report: Contains the location map with location pins, every detection available in the search results, and date/time/locator score for each detection.
    1. Click OK to generate the report. Click Get Report to download it once it has been compiled.
