Issue
An agency has recently purchased VideoManger EX and received their new BWC and/or their In-Car Video System and are ready to set their software up.
Environment
Pre-Requisites:
Police and private agency's who have purchased VideoManager EX must have their "Welcome Letter" they have received from their sales representative.
This Welcome Letter contains the agency's license (.lic) files for download as well as their "Activation Key" to activate the license's.
Download the license files and make note of the activation code ahead of time.
Agency will also have to provide a server or workstation which VideoManager EX will be installed on.
VideoManger EX On Premise will need to be on a dedicated machine with sufficient storage space/capabilities and an appropriate amount of resources.
USB attached External Hard Disk Drives are NOT supported due to potential loss and/or corruption of evidence if usb gets moved too much or loses connectivity.
Resolution
1. Open a web browser and navigate to motorolasolutions.com. Search at the top of the screen for "VideoManager EX Download". Then click on the first result titled "VideoManager Software Downloads"
2. You will then get re-directed to another page. Click on the "Download VideoManager EX" button.
3. Once the download completes, locate it in your Downloads folder and double click to launch it.
4. The installer will initiate, Hit Next.
5. Confirm the installation location. *Note this should always be an operating system drive like the C drive by default. Hit Install.
6. The installation will complete and notify you the device driver installer is next. Hit Finish.
7. Three Device Driver Installation Wizard windows will populate. Hit Next.
8. The device drive install will complete. Hit Finish. Repeat this process for the remaining device driver install windows.
9. Once you have finished the device driver installation. Search in the bottom task bar for the program "VideoManager administrator" and open this.
10. The VideoManager administrator window will populate advising you to agree to the license agreement in your web browser.
11. Go to the web browser that gets populated and click Setup.
12. Accept the License Agreement by scrolling down and clicking Accept.
13. Select a Database Setup. Unless agency has a specific SQL Server or Postgres Server DB then choose "Built-In" (Recommended) DB option and Confirm.
14. You will be asked to create an Administrator User. Its best for these On-Premise solutions to have a backup Administrator account for our TSO staff that is stored in our keepass DB. If agency is okay make this backup account here or see if it can be created later. Whatever agency is comfortable with create the account based on their needs. Choose a unique username/password combo.
15. Once your unique username and credentials are entered hit confirm.
16. Confirm if agency will use SSL. If yes, then agency will have to provide their own SSL certificate. If not then change from On to Off by clicking On.
17. Setup the initial storage location. It is recommended to have a drive other than the C drive for footage storage. If on a different drive then change the storage location accordingly. *Note: If agency is going to set a NAS for storage setup C drive temporarily. Storage locations can always be changed through the process of Evacuation. See evacuation KB.
18. The setup is now complete, click Ok.
19. Login to Videomanager EX with the credentials you made you earlier.
20. Click on Admin at the top of the Home page.
21. Click on System then Licenses.
22. Click the + sign to add their first license.

24. Navigate to where you previously downloaded their license files from the Welcome Letter and choose one. *Note: Only one license file may be added at a time.
25. Fill in the Activation key previously notated from the Welcome Letter and hit Import.
26. The license should now be added into VideoManager EX. Please repeat this process for an additional licenses agency has.
