Issue

When encountering issues with Flex Sentryx screens that only affect one or two client PCs, the problem can often be resolved by clearing the local cache.

Resolution

Clearing Local Cache

  1. Log out of Flex and Mobile
  2. Open a Windows Explorer window (Computer option in Start Menu, folder icon in the Taskbar, or Windows Key + E)
  3. Enter %localappdata%\Spillman (%localappdata%\Motorola Solutions for 2025.2+ agencies) in the Address Bar.

  4. Delete the Spillman folder (the Flex folder for 2025.2+ agencies) and the CommandCentral Jail folder.

Going Further:  Clearing Roaming Cache
You can also clear the user data that is cached on the client, such as the defaults.txt and map configuration files

  1. Open a Windows Explorer window (Computer option in Start Menu, Folder icon in the Taskbar, or Windows Key + E)
  2. Enter %appdata%\Spillman (%appdata%\flex for 2025.2+ agencies) in the Address Bar.

  3. To remove all roaming cache related to Flex, delete the entire Spillman folder (the Cache folder for 2025.2+ agencies)
  4. To clear only the Mobile cache, delete the Mobile folder or full Flex client cache, delete the Spillman folder
  5. Log back in after removing the desired cache folders.

Additional Tips

  • The %username% is the Windows login username, not the Spillman username.  Therefore, these cache files are created and deleted per Windows user.  If clearing the cache solves a problem for one Windows user on a machine, it likely has not solved it for other Windows users on the machine. (However, they may not be experiencing the same issue in the first place)
  • Upon logging back into Spillman or Mobile after clearing the cache, these cache folders and files will be reconstructed as needed by the software
  • A Windows user may not have the permissions necessary to delete these folders.  Additionally, if a user is able to delete the folders, the user may not have the permissions needed for the folders to be recreated.  This can be tested by navigating to one of the folders above and attempting to manually create a folder.  An administrator may need to grant the Windows permissions needed
  • If clearing the cache does not solve the problem, a thorough uninstall and re-install of the Spillman client may be necessary
