Reconnecting ArcServer and Updating SOE After Patch.


Issue

ArcServer is disconnected from Flex or address returns are not what is expected. The issue could be in an outdated Service Object Extension (SOE).

 

Resolution

 

Make sure you have a copy of the new SpillmanSOE.soe saved to the arcServer desktop. This will make it easier to navigate when it will be uploaded to the server.

 

Step 1: Copy the ArcServer path (http://<Agency GIS server>:6080/arcgis/admin/

 

A screen should appear that looks similar to this:

Step 2: Enter the ArcServer Manager and password then check login.

After logging in the screen will be this:

Step 3: Select Security

Step 4: Select Config

Step 5: Make sure the Protocol is set to HTTP and HTTPS. If not, select Update and change the setting.

Step 6: Select Home at the top of the screen and enter the ArcGIS Server Manager. User the same login as before.

Step 7: Select Site at the top of the page, then Extensions on the left hand side of the page.

Step 8: Ensure the SpillmanSOE.soe is present, then under the action column select the X. If there is no SpillmanSOE.soe press the Add Extension button and upload the new SpillmanSOE.soe from the desktop where you saved it.

Hit Choose File and browse to the server desktop where the SOE is saved.

Step 9: Select the Services on the top of the page, then the folder on the left hand side that contains all mapping services. NOTE: Most times the folder will be labeled GeoValidation. Select a map services, then Capabilities and make sure the Spillman SOE box is checked. If not, put a check mark in it. This will need to be done for all the Productions (A and B) the agency is using.

Step 10: Back in the folder containing the map and geocode services make sure they are running. If the play arrow is black press it. Make sure all are running.

Step 11: Log into Flex, in the command line type Adminutil, then select Geobase, Configuration Setup. Make sure there are three green check marks. Check this for both productions.

Step 12: Go into ArcCatalog and in Catalog Tree, on the left hand side of the screen, go to the GIS Servers and open it up. Select the server connection that has admin at the end. NOTE: If it asks for a username and password, this will be the same one used to enter the ArcServer Manager. Select the folder containing the agency’s map and geocode productions and ensure the status is Started. This step could be considered unnecessary but it is good to check
