Vesta Communicator - Questions on Importing

Question

Contact Data can be entered in the system Manually or via an Import.
Note: Contact Data should be maintained outside of Vesta Communicator.

Answer

There are two options for Importing:

  1. Merge file with the existing contacts
The Merge option merges new or additional information with the current contact's database.
  2. Replace all contacts with new file.
The Replace option substitute the current contact's database with those records in the import data file

Note: Any contacts not included in the new import file will be eliminated, and existing contacts will have their information updated.

The Import process can be Automated.

For more information about Auto Importing, please refer to the documentation on Auto Importing on Motorola's Learning Portal.

Behind the scenes, the import service “watches” a designated directory for a file, processes any files it finds and logs specific information about the imported data. The system makes a backup of the Database as part of its Import Process for easy recovery. Once the import is complete, a log file is attached and sent to a designated email address.
