MOTOTRBO CPS & RM best practices for USB programming

Question

MOTOTRBO CPS & RM best practices for USB programming

Answer

Best Practice for USB programming operations:

  1. Make sure that the power input or battery for the radio is stable and functional
    • Portable radio with low battery or Mobile radio with sudden power interruption may cause codeplug corruption during programming operations.
    • The user should be using the proper way to power off or on the radio with the power button.
    • A direct power cut is not a recommended power-off step.
  2. Avoid using USB multi-port or USB hub to connect multiple radios for programming.
    • The connection between PC and radio is based on the IP address of the radio.
    • All radios have the same default IP address (192.168.10.1) so when using a USB hub it will cause the PC not to be able to recognize multiple radios at once.
  3. Always use Revision ā€œCā€ of the USB programming cable.
    • Older A or B versions may contribute to programming issues.
  4. When using multiple PCs and RM databases, ensure that the following conditions are met:
    • The radio database is updated across all the PCs from time to time.
    • Avoid using a different version of CPS Tool, RM Tool, and USB programming cables.
    • Make sure that the setup for all the PCs is as similar as possible
  5. Always keep the CPS archive file or RM database up-to-date:
    • Remove the configuration that has not been used in the radio.
    • Revisit all configuration files and keep the one that is needed.
  6. Always make sure that the CPS or RM tool version being used is the latest version.
