Issue
How to convert wav files to mva files using the CPS VA Converter Utility
Environment
APX CPS
APX Portable and Mobile Radios
Resolution
1) Open the Voice Channel Announcement Converter Utility from the APX CPS tools menu.
2) To use the default files, leave the source and output locations at default or make your own folder and destination if desired. Make a note of the destination folder location.
Source: C:\ProgramData\Motorola\ApxFamilyCPS\Common\VoiceAnnouncementWavFiles
Destination: C:\ProgramData\Motorola\ApxFamilyCPS\Common\VoiceAnnouncementMvaFiles
Custom Voice Announcements can also be created using the Audio Tool of your choice to record them as .WAV provided they meet the specifications listed in CPS Help.
- Only *.MVA format is compatible with the radio codeplug.
- The *.WAV file format parameters must be 8000 samples per second, 16 bits per sample, Monochannel PCM, and less than 3 seconds.
3) Click “Select All” to import all default files.
4) Click the convert button. After this completes, you should now see the .mva files in your destination folder. C:\ProgramData\Motorola\ApxFamilyCPS\Common\VoiceAnnouncementMvaFiles
5) Close the convertor once complete.
6) Go to Radio Ergonomics Configuration - Voice Announcements - Voice Announcement List then click on the + button on the Voice Announcement top menu.
7) Select all of the .mva files from the destination location then click open. (C:\ProgramData\Motorola\ApxFamilyCPS\Common\VoiceAnnouncementMvaFiles)
Note: You do not need the files in the other folders (ar, es, fe-CA unless you need the files for other languages)
8) You should now be able to assign the voice file under Zone Channel Assignment - Channels - Channel Announcement dropdown.
