P1CAD: How to update SMTP authentication settings for a smarthost SMTP setup on a CAD APP server

Issue

Emails are not longer being recevied to the Motorola SCOM inbox and/or the customer is not receiving emails from P1CAD (SCOM or External CAD emails)

Environment

Virtual SMTP servers are running on each APP server

----> Emails from P1 CAD app servers are sent to a customer owned and managed smart host email relay server

---------> Authentication is needed to send emails to their smart host, to then be sent out over the world wide web

Resolution

Best case scenario, all you have to do is update the password on the Virtual SMTP servers on the APP servers, and then emails will start running again

1: On each app server, open up IIS 6 manager

Start menu ---> Windows Administration Tools ---> IIS 6

2: Open properties

3: Open "Outbound Security" under the Delivery tab

4: Enter the new password, that the customer should have provided to you

5: Click ok to save it

6: Expand the server and view the domains

7: For all of the domains that say Remote, perform the following to update the password

8: Click ok and then restart the SMTP server by stopping and then starting it

9: Wait for a health check email, scom alert or use an SMTP tester tool to test an email
