How to connect TLK100 to Wi-Fi


Issue

On occasion the TLK might not automatically connect to the WAVE service via the LTE network
In this situation you may need to configure a WiFi network directly into the TLK device locally allowing the TLK to connect to the service and download the latest update
Here are the instructions to do this - (Please ensure both steps 1 and 2 are done)

 

*There are 2 ways of conducting step 2. You may choose 1 of them for your activity.

Step 2 (PWAP) [Preconfigured Wi-Fi Access Point] is only applicable for BASE_R03.05.01_APPS_R03.05.02 and above.

Step 1 (via WAVE Admin Portal)

In the WAVE Admin Portal you need to find the devices that won’t connect and add a WiFi

profile to each device

Select TLK device(s)

You then enter the SSID and Password for the local WiFi network

Be sure to click Add, and then Save

The network will be then listed as below

Step 2 (via TLK device)

1. You can put the TLK device into maintenance mode

a. TLK 100 - Press and hold Power On + PTT + Chbutton
for 3 seconds during device power-up. A
spanner shape will be displayed briefly.

b. TLK 150 - Press and hold Power On + P2 + CH Down
button for 3 seconds during device power-up. A
spanner shape will be displayed briefly.

2. You will see a WiFi network called TLK1x0_xxxx (xxxx = last 4
digits for IMEI)

3. Use your phone or PC to connect to the WiFi SSID

4. Password for WiFi SSID = last 8 digits for device serial number (displayed on the rear of
TLK)

5. Once connected to TLK WiFi, open the browser window and type in 192.168.100.1

6. Or if you prefer you can connect the TLK to the PC via USB cable and browse to
192.168.100.1

7. Once you reach the landing page there
should be a button to add WiFi network.

8. Enter local WiFi details (SSID and
Password).
9. Click save
10. Click reboot
11. The TLK will reboot and connect via
WiFi and download the settings/software

 

 

Step 2 (PWAP) [Preconfigured Wi-Fi Access Point]

 

Requirements :-

A) A Wi-Fi hotspot with the following details.

SSID: WaveRadio

Password: RadioManagement

B) Disable cellular (Cellular OFF) in the TLK settings

 

Steps

1) Add the new Wi-Fi in the Wave portal.

2) While the device is in the user mode, press the side button (menu) and vol + button simultaneously. PWAP will be displayed on the screen.

3) After a few seconds, a "Contacting server, please wait..." message will be seen.

4) Once connected , device will fetch the configuration from portal. 

5) Upon completion, device will automatically restart.
