How to Edit the Owner System Id of an APX Radio in APX CPS

Query/Update Radio Data button is inaccessible in APX CPS

This feature allows you to view or modify a radio Owner Advanced Key Type or Owner ID. It also allows you to enable or disable a radio Write Protection.

The Owner Advanced Key Type and its corresponding Owner System ID or Owner WACN ID are initially determined for the radio and its codeplugs at the time of the radio's original purchase.

 

Scope/Context

  • APX CPS
  • Accessed Only: When an Unlimited Access Advanced Key is loaded into the application (see System Key Report), and when a codeplug is not currently open.

 

Background/Details

- The option to Query/Update Radio Data is greyed out in the APX CPS.

Outcome/Recommendation

To access the Query/Edit Radio Data button in APX CPS:

  1. Connect APX radio via APX programming cable.
  2. Launch CPS but do not open a codeplug.  If a codeplug is already open, close the codeplug while keeping CPS loaded.
  3. Load the System Key for the Trunking System.
  4. Go to Device > Query/Update Radio Data
  5. Make sure the Key Type, Owner System ID (Hex) and Write Protect selections match the data from the loaded system key.
  6. Click Update Radio Data.   Warning - Once you Update Radio Data, the values from Key Type, Owner System ID (Hex) and Write Protect fields will be overwritten in the radio.
