Background/Details
- If you see an error message(see below) encountered is a portal bug and does not affect the activation process:
- If a device is incorrectly created or an entitlement needs rehosting, contact SSC with the old and new device information.
- Once an entitlement is activated, it cannot be un-activated or returned.
Outcome/Recommendation
STEP 1:
1. The licensing portal is found at http://licensing.motorolasolutions.com/flexnet/operationsportal/logon.do
STEP 2: (Skip if you already have an account set up)
1. Select 'Register'
3. Copy & Paste the Entitlement ID from your entitlement email
4. Complete the rest of the new user registration form
5. You will be sent a temporary password in your email
6. Your login will be your username and the temporary password provided (Note: please type in the temporary password as copy-and-pasting tends to include extra characters)
STEP 3: You will first need to map any additional entitlements to your account
*Note, To add on to an existing device, map an entitlement already activated on the device to your account to pull the existing device into your portal
1. Login to your account
2. Go to Manage Entitlements
3. Click "Add New Entitlement To Your Account".
4. Copy & Paste the Entitlement ID without leading or trailing spaces.
5. Click "Map ID"
6. Then when you click 'Manage Entitlements', you should now be able to see the options you're entitled to
STEP 4: Activating a device (Follow the steps below on that same site)
1. Login to your account
2. Go to Manage Devices (depending on your network connection, this page may take a while to load. Also see the NOTE at the bottom of the page).
For creating a 'Server' device, select the 'Servers' tab and wait for the page to fully load.
For creating a 'Client' device, remain under the 'Client' tab.
*Check with product support to determine if your device should be registered as a 'Client' or a 'Server'.
3. For already-existing devices, click on the Device ID link and skip to Step 8. For new devices, press Register Client
4. Enter Device ID (Device ID is the same as Host ID)
5. Select Host type as device.
6. Click Submit
7. Click Save at the bottom right corner.
8. Click Add Entitlement Line Item.
9. Select Activation ID/Feature that you want to activate on that device
10. Increase the Requested copies to how much ever you need on that device
11. And then Click Generate License
12. The next page will ask you, if you have a request file? Say No.
13. And then click Generate
14. The next page will give you the download link.
15. Contact product support for instructions on using the license file within your product
*Note, once an entitlement is fully activated, it will no longer appear under the 'Manage Entitlements' page, only under the 'Manage Devices' page
Once an entitlement is activated on a device, there is no ability to 'un-activate' or 'return' the qty. Please never try to remove a line item from a device.
If you have incorrectly created a device or need an entitlement rehosted, please contact SSC with the old device information and new device information.
Note: During Step 4: 2, If you see the error message below, make sure there is no Firewall that can potentially block the traffic between the computer used and the Motorola's Licensing Portal server.
